Many congrats to Booker T. Jones who won a Grammy Awards on January 31st for his new album Potato Hole in the category Best Pop Instrumental Album.
He's an institution for Memphis soul music with his group Booker T. & The MGs. During the Sixties they became the house-band of Stax Records, an historical soul labels, and published a lot of hits.
Probably the most well-known is Green Onions; wrote in 1962, it'still one of the most important songs and one of the most appreciated riffs in r&b and soul music.
This is the "black moses" Isaac Hayes about him: "Booker T. pioneered the organ. When you heard him play, you knew it couldn't be anyone else."
